A Brampton dump truck driver faces charges in connection to a crash that killed a pedestrian in Toronto.

Emergency crews rushed to the collision involving a pedestrian and a dump truck at Eglinton Avenue West and Dufferin Street on Nov. 13, Toronto Police said in a press release today (Dec. 28).

A 53-year-old man was hit as he was crossing west to east on the south side of the intersection, police said.

He was sent to hospital where, sadly, he was pronounced dead, police said.

The dump truck was heading westbound on Eglinton Avenue West toward Dufferin Street, then turned left, to head southbound on Dufferin Street when the truck struck the man, police alleged.

On Tuesday (Dec. 26), Rohit Sharma, 31, of Brampton was charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death.

He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, 10 Armoury St. in Toronto on Friday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m.

Police are asking local residents, businesses, and drivers, who may have security or dash camera footage of the area or incident, to contact investigators.
