City workers strike looms as negotiations break down in Brampton

The City of Brampton has cracked the top 20 on a list of Canada’s best employers, jumping up 80 spots from last year’s round-up.

For the fifth year in a row, Brampton has been named to Forbes’ annual Canada’s Best Employers list and has moved up the rankings significantly compared to the previous year. The City was ranked 18th out of 100 companies on the 2023 list – a huge improvement from barely making the list and coming in 98th in 2022.

Highlights for the City included the Workplace Modernization initiative, giving workers flexibility in where and when employees work, as well as a commitment to diversity and inclusion policies and hiring practices.

Forbes partnered with market research company Statista to compile the annual list, surveying more than 10,000 Canadians working for companies with more than 500 employees. Participants rated their organizations based on their willingness to recommend them to friends and family. They were also asked to nominate organizations other than their own.

Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown said the City’s inclusion on the list again for 2023 speaks to City staff’s “passion for delivering results for our community.”

“We are incredibly proud to be recognized by Forbes as one of Canada’s Best Employers for the fifth year! Each day, our dedicated employees show up and work tirelessly to build a community that is safe, inclusive, sustainable, and successful,” Brown said in a statement.

The City of Brampton is currently hiring for several positions, including in the IT department, Building maintenance Operators, Law Clerks, and Comunity Services. To learn more about employment opportunities with the City of Brampton visit www.Brampton.ca.
