Today’s meeting of Brampton city council has been cancelled because not enough politicians showed up.

The meeting, slated to begin at 9:30 a.m. was postponed when six out of 10 councillors failed to attend meaning not enough people were present to proceed.

This follows a special council meeting held in secret session last night that lasted several hours.

Brampton city council generally meets twice monthly to discuss matters that are of interest and pertaining to city matters.

Aside from the regular meetings, Brampton politicians also meet for a variety of committees every month that report back to council. Special council meetings, such as the one held last night, can also be called at the discretion of the mayor.

The next regularly scheduled council meeting is March 2.
