This year’s Hockey Night in Brampton was a huge success.

The event raised $14 million for the William Osler Health System, which Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown said is a Canadian record for the most raised in a single charity game.

The game saw a number of stars take part, and teammates became opponents for one night only when the Maple Leafs’ Max Domi and Mitch Marner squared off on opposing teams.

Marner’s team beat Domi’s 12 to 9.

“Huge thanks to everyone who made #HockeyNightBrampton 2024 a smashing success!” Brown said in a post on X.

“Your excitement and high spirits turned the evening into one for the books.”

Hockey Night in Brampton was launched by Brown in 2019 and prior to Wednesday’s event, had raised over $1.4 million for the Osler Foundation with $1 million going towards the new Peel Memorial Hospital and over $400,000 supporting cardiac care.

The $14 million raised from Wednesday’s event smashed last year’s total of $1 million raised.

And Brown already has his sights set on the 2025 version of Hockey Night in Brampton.

“As we hang up our jerseys and catch our breath, we’re already buzzing for next year’s showdown,” he said.

“Get ready for more exciting moments and hockey thrills in 2025!”

Brampton South MPP and Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria took to social media to congratulate Brown.

“Congratulations to @patrickbrownont on his record breaking fundraiser for Brampton’s new hospital with over $14 million being raised in one night!” Sarkaria said.
