A carpenter from Brampton is looking for a new home after winning half a million dollars playing Maxmillions earlier this month.

Dwyane Nelson cashed in big with a win in the June 7 Lotto Max draw, winning a cool $500,002.

The 39-year-old carpenter says he was in disbelief when checking his ticket at the store, saying he is a “first-time winner.”

“I told my mom, and she was so happy,” Nelson said. “It feels good to win.”

Nelson said he plans to spread that winning feeling by sharing the prize with family and friends and putting a down payment on a new home.

The winning ticket was purchased at Conestoga Convenience on Bovaird Drive in Brampton.

OLG is booking in-person prize claim appointments at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto, with prize winners between $1,000 and $49,999.90 encouraged to submit their claims online or mail them.
