Brampton Arts Walk of Fame honours Denise Jones with 2022 induction

Late Brampton artist and music industry trailblazer Denise Jones will be the newest inductee into the city’s Arts Walk of Fame.

The Canadian-Jamaican actor, music industry veteran and Chair of the Juno Awards reggae category was CEO and co-founder of Jones & Jones Productions. Jones was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2019 and died in December 2020.

The longtime Brampton resident will be posthumously celebrated for her impact on Canadian music when she is added to the Arts Walk of Fame later this year, joining the likes of actor Alan Thicke and musicians Johnny Reid and Exco Levi to name a few.

With gold and platinum records as well as JUNO Awards for contributions to Canadian music, Jones was celebrated in the music industry. She received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Urban Music Association of Canada,the Bob Marley Memorial Award for work in Entertainment, and was named one of 100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women.

She was also a professor for the Concert & Festival Management course at Ryerson University.

Heralded as one of the premier music promotion and brand marketing companies in Canada, Jones & Jones Productions produced over 30 concerts and plays annually, talent search competitions.

Jones was a long-time member of the Brampton Board of Trade (BBOT) where she served two terms as a director and was actively involved in BBOT’s membership and diversity committee.

She was also a member of the Jamaica Diaspora Canada Foundation and sat on the board of Helping Hands Jamaica Foundation of Canada.

Brampton Arts Walk of Fame inductees are required to either be from Brampton or having spent their formative years in the city. Inductees are selected for achieving excellence in the arts and entertainment industry, for building pride in the Brampton community, and inspiring emerging artists and creators.​​
