Brampton announces full itinerary for 50th anniversary celebration

The City of Brampton is putting out an open invite this summer, as their 50th-anniversary celebration is scheduled for Saturday, June, 29.
According to an official press release, the event will be hosted by JUNO award-winner Keshia Chanté, who has also been inducted into the Brampton Arts Walk of Fame. The event will take place between two and 10 pm and features numerous activities for Brampton families to enjoy.
Beyond the presence of local vendors, a variety of musical acts will also be present at the birthday bash, including homegrown Brampton artists Haviah Mighty, Omega Mighty and Darryn de Souza, who will be debuting their original song “Celebrate You” — a city commissioned anniversary song intended to celebrate Brampton’s history.
Additional performances include five-time JUNO award-winner Exco Lev, with a closing showcase from multi-platinum artist Johnny Reid.
Brampton’s 50th-anniversary celebration includes more than just food and music, as city officials indicate that the PIXEL Chapter: 50 Exhibition will establish Brampton’s history in the digital art space The event features 50 local creatives who have all created rotating pieces that showcase their interpretation of Brampton.
The exhibition will be available to the public during the celebration on June 29 and during specific weeks from June to December at Brampton’s Garden Square. Collected works are also accessible at the Brampton Art Organization’s 3D Virtual Gallery.
“Join us as we celebrate 50 vibrant years of Brampton’s journey, marking a milestone of growth, unity and community spirit,” said Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown in an official statement.
According to representatives from the city, due to the scale of the event, several road closures will be effective around the surrounding area. Parking sites will also be open in proximity to the event on a first come first serve basis.

- Lester B. Pearson Catholic School
- St. Jean Brebeuf Catholic School
- Hanover Public School
- Hilldale Public School
- Goldcrest Public School
- Chinguacousy Secondary School
