Brampton 14-year-old arrested on firearms and robbery charges

Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS), in partnership with Peel Regional Police (PRP) and York Regional Police (YRP), have charged seven individuals and seized six firearms in connection to a robbery investigation that began in Cambridge.
Around 1:00 p.m. on Thursday (Feb. 24), police in Waterloo say three suspects entered a telecommunications store in the area of Franklin Boulevard and Elgin Street North.
The suspects reportedly brandished a firearm and demanded merchandise from a store employee before leaving the store with an undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise.
Police say the suspects then met up with a fourth person who was waiting in a stolen vehicle and fled the area.
Investigators say the suspects later exchanged the stolen vehicle for another vehicle and were headed towards the Greater Toronto Area.
Police Members of Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) say they coordinated with Peel Regional Police (PRP) and York Regional Police (YRP) to locate the suspects at a condominium complex in Peel Region.
Members of Peel Regional Police’s Tactical and Rescue Unit along with robbery units from other polcie services made three arrests and said they located stolen property.
Police say they recovered a total of six handguns, as well as a prohibited extended magazine and a drum-style magazine containing 50 rounds of ammunition.
Seven individuals, including five teenagers, were arrested in relation to the incident:
- a 14-year-old youth from Brampton
- a 17-year-old youth from Toronto
- an 18-year-old male from Toronto
- an 18-year-old from Etobicoke
- 19-year-old male from Toronto
- 21-year-old female from Scarborough
- 22-year-old male
The suspects are facing criminal charges including robbery with a firearm, unauthorised possession of a weapon, and possession of stolen property over $5,000.
Police say the suspects were transported to Waterloo Region where they were held for a bail hearing.
No physical injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are anticipated.
