Body of missing Markham woman found in Ontario; Whitby teen charged

The body of a missing Markham realtor was found in rural Ontario and three youths face charges, including a Whitby teen.
Family members reported Yuk-Ying Anita Mui, 56, as missing on Aug. 9 after they had not heard from her since 11 a.m. that day, York Regional Police said. Her white 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE450 sport utility vehicle was located in the area of Finch Avenue East and Warden Avenue in Toronto.
A few days later, on Aug. 12, burned human remains were found on a property on Avro Arrow Road and Highway 400 near Parry Sound, OPP said.
The coroner has now confirmed the remains are those of missing Markham woman, York Regional Police say.
Police say youths were found to have property belonging to Mui.
Three youths face weapon and fraud charges in connection with the investigation.
A 17-year-old male youth from Whitby is charged with unauthorized possession of a prohibited and restricted weapon, possession of a firearm knowing a serial number has been tampered with, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, and two counts of fraud under $5,000, police say.
Two male teens aged 16 and 17 from Toronto also face fraud charges.
Investigators believe this is a targeted incident. The investigation is ongoing.
Police say a white 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter cargo van could have transported Mui.
Anyone who may have seen this van or have dashcam or CCTV video in the area of 3821 Vandorf Sideroad, in Whitchurch-Stouffville, or in Parry Sound between Aug. 9 and Aug. 12 should contact police.
