A man is facing a murder charge after his mother was found dead inside of an Ontario home, police say.
York Regional Police said that on Saturday at 8:25 a.m., officers responded to a welfare check call from a family member of 60-year-old Xiaomei Wang.
Officers went to a home in the area of Gracedale Drive and Shaftsbury Avenue in Richmond Hill, where Wang was found dead.
A suspect was arrested in Toronto Saturday afternoon.
Richmond Hill resident Henry Ai, 23, faces a charge of second-degree murder.
Police said he is the victim’s son and officers aren’t looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.
Wang’s cause of death was determined to be “blunt force trauma,” police said.
Police said they’re trying to determine when exactly she died and are encouraging anyone with video surveillance from the Gracedale Drive area near Shaftsbury Avenue between Sept. 20 at 5 p.m. and Sept. 21 at 9 a.m. to come forward.
