Biggest retro video game show in Mississauga happens this weekend

Gamers converge in the largest gaming expo in Mississauga this weekend.
GAMEX returns for the fifth year at the International Centre in Mississauga on Saturday (Aug. 12).
The trade show will include more than 150 exhibitors with tens of thousands of video games, trading cards, comic books and other memorabilia from the 1980s to today, according to organizers. People can buy, sell or trade.
“Whether you’re looking at finishing off a collection or hoping to pick up childhood favourites, we’ve got you covered,” the website states.
There is a “Free Play Zone” where gamers can try out some of the “most gruelling games ever released.” There will be hundreds of games available to try on dozens of systems.
There are also gaming tournaments including Smash Bros. Melee and Mario Kart 64 matches. Advanced registration is require to secure a spot.
And attendees are encouraged to come dressed in cosplay to show support for their favourite video games, shows, movies and other franchises. A professional photographer will be on-site taking photos.
GAMEX is at the International Centre, Hall 3, 6900 Airport Rd., Mississauga on Saturday, Aug. 12 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
