A Mississauga woman who bought a lotto ticket on a whim while visiting a friend in the hospital is quite a bit richer.

OLG recently announced Lidija Melhuish won a $100,000 top prize with Instant Bingo Multiplier.

OLG says that Melhuish, a mother and grandmother, decided to buy a ticket at the INS Market on the Queensway while she was supporting a friend who needed surgery.

“I was at home when I remembered the ticket I had bought and decided to play it with my daughter,” Melhuish told OLG.

“I thought I had four lines but was unsure what the prize was. I showed my husband and he wasn’t sure either. Then, I reached out to some friends, and they told me to download the OLG app.”

After doing that, Melhuish realized she had a windfall coming.

“I scanned my ticket and saw the words ‘Big Winner.’ I started screaming with joy! I couldn’t believe it. I was freaking out and giggling uncontrollably. My whole family came over to celebrate with me,” she said.

OLG says Melhuish accepted her prize with a huge smile and some tears.

She plans to pay some bills, purchase a new car, and share with her husband and daughter.

“I was so shocked to discover this win. I never imagined this would happen to me,” she said.
