Recently, many Brampton residents received a letter from the city about a new proposal and amendment to the zoning by-law.
The city has initiated an amendment to the zoning by-law to permit offices and commercial uses in Ward 8.
The city is proposing to add an office, bank, commercial school (including a commercial, technical, and recreation school), a fitness centre, an animal hospital, a private school and a grocery store (no greater than 10,000 square feet). The proposed properties will be located in the south-west corner of Ebenezer Road and Nexus Avenue.

As many residents in Ward 8 and Brampton already know, there are many buildings in the area of Ebenezer Road and Nexus Avenue. The city recently welcomed two temples, Bhavani Shankar Mandir and Cultural Centre, and the Gurdwara Dashmesh Darbar to the area. Developers also built the Grand Empire Banquet and Convention Centre and Park Inn by Radisson Brampton Toronto in the area. There are also two plazas in close proximity.
The proposed amenities will affect all properties in the area.
In the letter, it states that the proposed uses will be added to 4515, 4525, 4535 and 4555 Ebenezer Road and 90, 98, 100 and 150 Nexus Avenue. The letter does not go into detail about how each building will be affected.
On July 10, the city will be holding an open house at 6:15 p.m and a public meeting at 7 p.m at City Hall.
