Alas, if you thought you’d seen the last of this large (and rather unsightly) home, you thought wrong.
Alas, if you thought you’d seen the last of this large (and rather unsightly) home, you thought wrong.
Plans are reportedly underway to rebuild the “Big Blue Monster” house, which was demolished at its previous location at 443 Centre Street — but this time, as a haunted house.
Rebuilt in the city’s downtown and maintaining every aspect of its original look, the house will keep its size (6,600 square feet), its tall height, and its stark blue, unfinished appearance. With that said, what will the inside of the haunted house look like?
inBrampton.com has recently learned that the inside will feature a dark and elaborate maze, dimly lit by just a few candles and spanning both floors of the house.
Lurking in the darkness will be costumed workers ready to jump out at guests, as well as some hidden traps that “guests will desperately want to avoid” — although what those traps will be, we don’t know yet.
Few details are known at this time, but it’s believed the house is planned to finish construction by October 2019 for an opening date close to Halloween. Construction will begin today, on April Fool’s Day.
Oh, and most importantly: Admission will be completely free.
Of course, there’s no word on why this house was chosen as the look for a new haunted house in Brampton — but some speculate it’s due to how large and menacing the house appeared at its original location, especially surrounded by regular-looking houses and much smaller bungalows.
Lots of planning appears to be underway to make sure the house is developed in time to give residents a good scare when Halloween rolls around.
Sometime in 2017, the city revoked its building permits for the original house and filed an application with the Superior Court of Justice, asking for an order that the unfinished house be demolished.
Perhaps this is what they had in mind?
We’ll update with further details on this story as it develops.
