A Brampton man is celebrating his first big win after playing with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) for more than 20 years.

The OLG announced in a news release Tuesday that Perfecto Adajar won a $1 million maxmillion prize in the Aug. 20 Lotto Max draw.

The married father of one, who works as an IT specialist, likes to play a variety of OLG games and chooses numbers that correlate with family birthdays, the release said.

Adajar saw that he won when he checked his ticket using the OLG app.

“When I saw the prize amount, I was shocked and thankful,” he said in the OLG release.

“It took all day for reality to settle in. I shared the good news with my wife and kid, they were so happy. They said I deserve this win because I have always been a hard worker.”

Adajar plans to add to his savings and pay off his mortgage with the money.

He said he feels “beyond blessed,” adding that “winning is the best feeling you could imagine.”

The ticket was purchased in Mississauga at Canadian Tire Gas+ on Dixie Road.
