After 30 years in business, a beloved guitar shop in Mississauga has closed.

The Guitar Shop at 251 Lakeshore Rd. E. in Port Credit has closed, according to several posts.

A sign on the shop simply says “CLOSED Thanks for 30 years” and the website message says “Down for Maintenance” and “Thank you for 30 great years.”

It is also marked as permanently closed on Google.

The owner could not be reached for comment.

But many music-lovers were sad to hear the news.

“My son bought his first guitar there – plus a couple more in later years. Excellent staff. This is as sad loss for the Pt Credit business community,” one person wrote on the Port Credit Friends Facebook page.

“How sad… They were great. I wonder how any brick-and-mortar businesses survive these days,” another wrote.

A post on Reddit indicates the shop closed on Sept. 1, and follows the February closure of Walters Music Centre at 905 Britannia Rd. W.

“2023 has been a sad year for musical instrument stores in Mississauga,” the post reads.

Walters Music Centre had been open for around 40 years.

It is unclear what will move into the empty shop. It doesn’t appear the building is up for re-development.

There are no current development applications 251 Lakeshore Rd. E.
