While Remembrance Day is not a statutory holiday and schools and most businesses will remain open, some companies have elected to alter their hours, including the Beer Store.

Today, the Beer Store announced that on Monday, Nov. 11, most stores throughout the province will open at noon rather than 10 a.m.

A select number of stores in Dryden, Ottawa, Gloucester, Nepean, Kanata, Manotick, Orleans and Stittsville will open at 12:30 p.m.

There’s no indication that Beer Store locations in the GTA will close entirely to observe the occasion.

While workplaces are not obligated to give employees the day off, some other businesses might also choose to close or open later to give people time to attend ceremonies and events held to honour the Canadian Armed Forces and those who have served in the country’s defence.

The day always takes place on Nov. 11 at 11 a.m.

Federal government offices, banks, and post offices are typically closed.
