Get ready to roll for initiative and take on an epic quest at a live-action, immersive Dungeons & Dragons experience coming soon to Mississauga.

Gamers will be able to break out of the basement and take on the role of budding adventurers trying to recover a powerful gem from the clutches of a villainous dragon when Dungeons & Dragons: The Immersive Quest rolls into Mississauga next month.

Promising an immersive role-playing experience, the event blends theatre, videos, interactive multimedia stations and more to make guests feel like they’re part of the story.

Guests start their D&D journey by choosing what kind of adventurer they want to be before heading out to take on a dragon.

There will also be a Waterdeep-themed market, and a fantasy bar with food and drink called Yawning Portal for those who want to live out their “you meet in a tavern” dreams.

Adventurers will gain experience points (XP) during the experience, which can be exchanged at the end of the quest for store credits.

And with the game celebrating a new edition and its 50th anniversary this year, organizers say the immersive D&D experience is perfect for gaming veterans, newbies, and everyone in between.

“Our goal with this immersive experience is to bring the magic of Dungeons & Dragons to life in a way that’s never been done before,” said Eric Brouillet, President and Founder of event runners VIBRANT. “Every aspect of this adventure has been carefully crafted for authenticity in order to immerse both seasoned fans and newcomers alike in the world of Dungeons & Dragons.”

Dungeons & Dragons is part dice game and part improv, with players taking on the role of adventurers to tell a collaborative story.

Role-playing games and D&D in particular have become more mainstream in recent years thanks to the popularity of shows like Stranger Things and The Legend of Vox Machina, and VIBRANT says the experience is “as engaging and realistic as possible, allowing participants to fully immerse themselves in the presented universe.”

Dungeons & Dragons: The Immersive Quest will last around an hour and attendees will have unlimited time at the market to browse food, drink, merchandise and more.

Tickets range from $39.99 for the basic “Adventurer” package to $79.99 for the “Hero” ticket which includes a free swag, a complimentary drink at the Waterdeep Market, 10 per cent discount at the official Dungeons & Dragons store, food and beverages, and a 50 per cent discount for a return visit.

The event kicks off in December and will run until mid-March at the GYGO entertainment complex across from the Square One Shopping Centre in Mississauga.
