Authentic Indian street food is on the menu of a new Mississauga restaurant.
Served Co., located at 6355 Kennedy Rd., offers a wide-variety of items that the you would find at a typical street stall that is inexpensive and quick and easy to eat.
Such street selections include chaat papdi (fried flour chips with potatoes, onions, chickpeas, yogurt, tamarind chutney, green chutney, and masalas garnished with coriander, pomegranate, and sev), bhel puri (Fried rice and flour chips tossed with tomatoes, onions, coriander, chilies, tamarind chutney, green chutney, masalas, and pomegranate), vegetable pakoras (one pound vegetable pakore served with tamarind and green chutney) and Desi fish and chips (masala fries topped with fish pakore and served sauce and green chutney. Garnished with onions and coriander).
But that is not all.
Main dishes include channa masal (a flavourful chickpea curry), dal chawal (black lentil curry served with basmati rice, papad, and pickle achaar) and kucha channa (stuffed Stuffed naan bread served with chickpea curry), among others.
The restaurant also serves up a number of desserts and specialty beverages.
So far the reviews have been great. “When I attended a family wedding in India,” one recent customer writes. “I was fascinated by the food culture and the variety of flavours that Indian cuisine has to offer. Our meals were served directly from the thavi (hot plate) onto our plates. We were presented with a variety of choices and combinations of flavours that seemed endless. There is nothing more live than serving food right from the grill onto the guests’ plates!”
