It’s going to be uncomfortably hot today in southern Ontario, and a thunderstorm is possible.

After a week of sunshine and heatwave conditions, a brief period of rain has arrived, and clouds are beginning to move in. However, residents can expect little relief as temperatures are set to remain above 30 C.

For those who appreciate a beautiful morning sky, today’s sunrise will begin at 6:08 a.m.—eight minutes later than last week.

Mississauga, Brampton, Halton, Hamilton and Durham residents will wake up to sunshine and crystal clear skies, which will continue until the afternoon.

Later in the day it will begin to get slightly cloudy across all cities with a 30 per cent chance of rain.

Daytime temperatures will soar to 31 C in Mississauga Brampton, Halton, Hamilton and Durham, while the UV index will be very high at level 8.

Environment Canada advises protecting your skin when the UV index is three or higher, particularly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

However, it will feel significantly uncomfortable as the humidex is anticipated to reach between 36 and 37.

Additionally, Health Canada says that if outdoors, individuals should seek shade, wear protective clothing and hats, apply SPF 30 or higher sunscreen, avoid tanning, use UV-protective sunglasses and stay hydrated throughout the day.

Sunset begins at 8:36 p.m.

By evening, skies will become mostly cloudy, with a 70 per cent—very likely chance of thunderstorms continuing through to the next morning.

Temperatures are expected to drop to 20 C in Mississauga, Brampton, and Hamilton, while Halton and Durham will see slightly cooler temperatures of 19 C.

The remainder of the week will be mainly sunny, with occasional rain on Monday and Tuesday.

Daytime highs will range between 23 C and 27 C, while nighttime temperatures are expected to slip between 15 C and 17 C.
