Mississauga is under a blizzard warning today, but Square One and other shopping malls across the city remain open for those looking to venture out.
A number of residents contacted insauga.com this morning to find out if Square One was open for business today.
Yes, the third-largest mall in the country and second-largest in Ontario is open. The shopping centre, operating on COVID-19 reduced hours, is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
A Square One spokesperson said in an email to insauga.com this morning that, “Snow won’t close a mall unless the City (of Mississauga) declares a state of emergency where people aren’t to leave their homes.”
The spokesperson added that if would-be shoppers are looking to visit specific retail locations within the mall, they’re advised to contact that store ahead of time.
Environment Canada has issued a blizzard warning for Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills for today.
Heavy snow and strong winds will make travel dangerous, officials say, adding the potential is great for near-zero visibility at times.
Total snowfall amounts of 40 to 60cm or greater are expected.

- Erin Mills Town Centre, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Dixie Mall, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Westwood Square Mall, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
