A Brampton man and two Toronto youths are facing numerous charges in connection with an attempted carjacking and break-and-enter last Friday in west Toronto.

Toronto Police said a male victim was returning to his vehicle in the Highway 27 and Rathburn Road area when he was approached by three males.

One of the three males pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded his car keys. The three took cash the victim had in his hand and the victim then jumped in his car.

The victim tried to close the door but was not successful and instead got back out of the car and fled. Unable to get the victim’s vehicle started, the three males got out and ran to their own vehicle and drove off.

Police also allege the same group of three males were able to get into a home through a back patio door located in the Dufferin Street and Queen Street West area.

No one was home at the time and the three males, police said, took personal items and left through the side door. They returned to their vehicle and attempted to drive off.

Police were able to successfully stop the vehicle with the three males in it a short distance later and they were placed under arrest.

Two of the males were able to escape the area on foot.

A replica firearm and stolen personal items were found in the vehicle by Toronto police.
