Peel Regional Police are appealing to the public to help identify a man they allege is responsible for two unprovoked assaults at Mississauga’s Applewood Hills Park.

On Friday (Sept. 27), at around 12:30 p.m., a 77-year-old man from Mississauga was walking near the area of Applewood Hills Trail and Bloor Street when he was approached from behind and allegedly struck with a weapon.

“The suspect fled the area,” said Peel police.

The senior was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a white, five-foot-eight male with a medium build, between 30 and 35 years old. He was wearing a dark-coloured T-shirt and jean shorts.

In another incident last Thursday (Sept. 19), just after 1 p.m., a 73-year-old Mississauga man was walking near the same area of Applewood Hills Trail and Bloor Street when he was approached from behind and struck with a weapon.

The suspect then fled the area. The elderly man was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect in that assault is described as a white, six-foot-tall male with a slim build and a fair complexion. He is between 25 and 35 years of age and was wearing a black baseball hat, a black T-shirt, dark grey pants, and black running shoes.

Investigators believe the same person may have caused these two similar incidents.

Police are asking anyone with information on these incidents to call the 12 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-453-2121, extension 1233.
