Arrest made in attempt murder after man was attacked on a hike in Brampton

Peel Police from the 22 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau have arrested and charged a man with Attempted Murder and Robbery.

On February 23, 2024, the victim, an adult male, was walking along a footpath near Duggan Park in the area of Ken Whillans Drive and Sproule Drive in Brampton.

The accused, a stranger to the victim, approached him from behind with an edged weapon and attacked him before fleeing the area with property belonging to the victim.

The victim was transported to a trauma center with life-threatening severe injuries, including slash and stab wounds. Fortunately, he survived the attack and is recovering.

On March 7, 2024, investigators executed two search warrants at residences in Brampton and Toronto. As a result, 30-year-old Stephen McCallum of Brampton was arrested. He has been charged with the following:

  • Attempted Murder
  • Robbery

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
