Armed robbery suspect arrested in Bowmanville

Durham Police have arrested an armed suspect after a convenience store robbery in Bowmanville put local schools on alert.

DRPS announced at 1:22 p.m. January 3 they were on the lookout for the suspect of an armed robbery of a convenience store in the Bowmanville Ave and Hartwell Avenue are.

They said via twitter they had notified area schools, Dr. Ross Tilley Public School and Holy Family Catholic School.

Minutes later at 1:37 DRPS followed up saying the suspect had been arrested and the schools notified. The suspect has not been identified. Police confirmed there are no outstanding suspects.

The investigation is ongoing and robbery unit investigators were en route to the convenience store, as of the last police update.
