Amazon Prime’s brutal superhero satire, The Boys, has launched filming in Mississauga for its upcoming fouth season.
The series, based on the acclaimed comic by writer Garth Ennis (Punisher, Preacher) and artist Darick Robertson, follows the titular vigilante group The Boys as they try to bring down the lethally corrupt Justice League pastiche, The Seven and their corporate backers, Vought International.
The Boys has been filmed throughout the Greater Toronto Area, including in Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton and Oshawa since the first season.
The third season finished streaming just a few weeks ago, on July 8, but fans have been clamouring for updates ever since the finale placed the “heroes” in the worst position viewers had yet seen.
However, fans need not fear, showrunner Eric Kripke is here with an update from August 22 announcing “Day One.”

Kripke is also renowned as the creator and first showrunner of Supernatural. In The Boys third season he was joined by another alumnus of the series, Jensen Ackles. In Supernatural Ackles played Dean Winchester one of the lead paranormal investigator brothers quite literally doing the Lord’s work.
Ackles was able to let his darker side out on the The Boys, playing the viciously violent Captain America satire Soldier Boy. In season four Ackles and Kripke will be joined by yet another Supernatural alumnus, Jeffrey Dean Morgan who played the Winchester’s father John.
Morgan was announced in a mystery recurring role in the fourth season on August 25. Morgan, no stranger to wanton on-screen violence through his iconic roles as Negan on The Walking Dead and the Comedian in Watchmen, should fit right in on The Boys. In fact he’s already started.
Can’t tell you how excited I am! Big thanks to @therealKripke and @AMCPlus & @TheBoysTV for finding a way with both schedules. No easy task. SO DAMN STOKED!! https://t.co/NZT94seB0z

Soon a host of familiar faces began to confirm the news of The Boys triumphant return to Toronto. Karl Urban (Nerdom royalty for roles in Lord of the Rings, Dredd and Star Trek), who stars as The Boys leader Billy Butcher posted an update after deplaning at Mississauga’s Pearson Airport.

Jack Quaid and Erin Moriarty, who play (super) power-couple Hughie Campbell and Annie January/Starlight, also got in on the fun posting updates from Toronto. “That “F*CK VOUGHT” (iykyk) ‘tude/but also SO giddy to be back in my (2nd) home with my work fam,” Moriarty said.

While The Boys has just kicked off filming, they aren’t the only series in the Vought-verse in town Gen V, a spin-off focused on young “Supes” in training has been filming at the University of Toronto Mississauga campus since May. Filming is set to wrap in October.
Not to be out done Netflix also has a superhero show in the works in the GTHA with The Umbrella Academy fourth season set to film in Hamilton.
