GO train Mississauga transit strike

Metrolinx has mapped out alternative routes for commuters if a strike halts GO Train service through Mississauga.

The transit agency says it has been preparing in the event of a work stoppage caused by the ongoing labour dispute between Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) and workers represented by Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC).

If a strike occurs, it will begin Thursday (Aug. 22) and will affect rush hour passengers who use the line that runs from Milton to Union Station in Toronto and stops in Mississauga at stations in Lisgar, Meadowvale, Streetsville, Erindale, Cooksville and Dixie.

The Milton line is affected because of tracks shared with CPKC.

The Milton GO station and the Hamiton GO station will also not operate if there is a strike.

All other GO services and train stations (including West Harbour in Hamilton and other Lakeshore West stations), as well as the UP Express, will not be affected by a work stoppage.
