Are you looking for a new furry family member to love and care for?

If you’re ready to open your heart and home to an animal in need, you should note that on Feb. 28, an Animal Rescue Express vehicle will arrive from the North Bay & District Humane Society at the Pet Valu in Heartland Town Centre (885 Plymouth Drive) in Mississauga.

Outfitted with comfortable, modern cages, air conditioning, and heating, the customized Rescue Express will be transporting more than 20 cats, dogs and puppies rescued from remote communities in northern Ontario for a massive adoption event.

Animal Rescue express says staff will be bringing 14 to 17 dogs and 10 to 12 cats.

The organization says staff from the Humane Society and Pet Valu will be looking for the right homes for the right pets. Individuals and families looking to adopt a pet can visit Pet Valu between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm on Feb. 29 and between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm on March 1.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour the customized Animal Rescue Express and learn about how the unique trailer and vehicle (which is large enough to transport 45 dogs or 75 cats) has helped the North Bay Humane Society rescue even more animals in need and why it reduces the stress for animals and staff alike and why it is important to transport animals from the north to southern Ontario
