UPDATE: Active shooter fires at police officers in small, Ontario community

Residents were being asked to shelter in place after police officers were shot at in a small, Ontario community.
“We have an active shooter firing at police, for your safety, please remain in your house and shelter in place,” Six Nations Const. Cody Johnson said in a post on X just after 8 a.m. this morning (Dec. 1).
The incident began after officers responded to the “active weapons investigation” on Sixth Line between Chiefswood Road and Tuscarora Road located in the Ohsweken, Six Nations of the Grand River around 10:30 p.m. last night (Nov. 30), OPP said in a press release.
The community is south of Brantford.
This morning, police were still on scene and reported being shot at.
“Barricaded person discharging firearm at police officers on Sixth Line,” OPP said in a post on X this morning. “Residents requested to continue to shelter in place.”
The OPP’s Haldimand and Brant County Detachment, OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, OPP Emergency Response Team were called to assist the Six Nations Police Service at the incident, OPP said.
In an update around 9:20 a.m., Six Nations Const. Cody Johnson and OPP Sgt. Ed Sanchuk said officers took a man into custody without incident.
No injuries were reported and the lockdown was lifted.
