Abducted woman found safe following Mississauga manhunt

A woman has been found safe after being abducted from a Mississauga street.

Peel Police have also confirmed they have made an arrest in the case that unfolded on Dec. 17.

Bryan Devereaux, 48 of Kitchener faces charges of assault and forcible confinement.

Police say a man was observed to be involved in a physical altercation with a woman just before noon on Tuesday in the area of Mississauga Road and Meadowvale Boulevard, just south of Highway 407 and north of Highway 401.

“During the incident, a man was reportedly seen striking the female and forcing her into a vehicle before leaving the area,” police said in a news release on Wednesday.

Police said they tried to stop the SUV, but the driver didn’t comply and quickly sped away, evading officers.

Police say they confirmed the identity of the suspect at the time and had been looking for him.

The female involved in the incident has been located in good health.
