Abandoned puppy needs a new home this holiday in Brampton

There’s still time to give a furry, feathered or fuzzy friend a new home this holiday season with animal adoptions through Brampton Animal Services.
Brampton’s animal shelter is always looking for potential pet parents to make a difference in the lives of rescued or abandoned pets like Steve – a three-month-old Labrador Retriever puppy, and the last of his litter who is still waiting for a forever home this Christmas.
Steve and his three siblings were found abandoned in a container but were rescued and brought to the Brampton Animal Services shelter where they received the care and attention they needed.
With the other three puppies now adopted to new homes, the shelter is looking for someone to give Steve a home this holiday.
The pups are a hound-mix, so the shelter says Steve needs an owner “that understands the traits of their breed.”
“Despite their rough start, they have blossomed into their true, loving personalities,” the shelter says.
There are lots of other dogs, cats, and other furry friends you could take home in Brampton this holiday.
There’s Foxy, a four-year-old Dogo Argentino that handlers say is “sweet and friendly” if not “a bit shy and timid” at first.
Or Dream, a two-year-old American Bulldog female who is “a playful and affectionate girl who lights up with excitement when she’s around her human friends and toys,” and Mouse, a Siberian Huskey described as a “goofy” guy who loves figuring out puzzles.
Dog adoptions cost $200 plus a licence fee and include vaccinations, sterilization, a free veterinary exam and more to help get your pet ready for their new home. Cat adoptions start at $120 while birds and small animal adoption fees start at $5.
Brampton Animal Services is also accepting donations to the emergency pet food pantry and Helping Orphaned Pets in Emergencies (HOPE) Fund if adoption isn’t an option.
The HOPE Fund raises money for the rehabilitation of sick and injured animals at the shelter so they can be adopted into loving homes. Brampton Animal Services says a donation can make a perfect gift for the animal lover on your holiday list.
All proceeds from donations help pay for extended medical procedures for animals in Brampton Animal Services’ care with no portion used to cover administration or operational expenses.
