Brampton parking ticket pay online

Residents in Mississauga, Brampton and other Ontario cities should beware a new parking-related scam that’s currently going around.

The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC) has been notified of a scam text that alleges the recipient has a parking ticket which needs to be settled by a certain date.

The text includes a link to a fraudulent website:

Clicking on the link may put you at risk for identity fraud, the CAFC warns.

Drivers are reminded that they will never be sent parking infractions via text message.

The scam appears to be targeting Mississauga and Brampton as well, prompting Peel Regional Police to put out a statement warning people.

“Be alert! Phishing scams are often received by text so think twice before giving out any information,” police said.

Anyone who receives a scam text is advised to delete it without clicking any links.

The CAFC advises residents to never share personal information with unverified people or groups.

That includes information such as your name, address, birth date, social insurance number, and credit card or banking information.
