Since December is officially here, it’s time to start making plans for New Year’s Eve!

If you live in Mississauga and have no plans to travel to celebrate (or even plan on travelling to Mississauga to ring in the new year with thousands of people), you’ll be happy to hear that you can welcome 2020 at Celebration Square.

The annual celebration typically attracts 30,000 people and is the city’s biggest NYE party.

This year, attendees can enjoy a performance by Juno Award-winning hip hop artist Jazz Cartier, who will headline this year’s event.

Spotify sensation Shopé and pop dynamo LU KALA will also be on hand to help people celebrate.

The event will be hosted by Mississauga’s own Scott Willats and emcee Mariah Sousa-Sampson.

There will also be something new for the little ones this year.

For the first time ever, Celebration Square will be hosting NYE JR.–a new year’s event for the early-to-bed set. The kid-centric party will see the Mini Pop Kids live on stage performing today’s hottest hits. The party will be hosted by emcee Selena Singh.

There will also be skating, food trucks, and fireworks, so be sure to bring your skates (and if you don’t have any, you can rent some) and your appetite.

Here’s a look at the night’s schedule:

  • 8 pm – NYE JR. with the Mini Pop Kids
  • 9 pm – Confetti Countdown
  • 9:10 pm – LU KALA
  • 10 pm – Shope
  • 11 pm – Jazz Cartier
  • Midnight – Fireworks Finale presented by Tim Hortons

Road closures will be in effect.

If you plan on taking public transportation, note that all passengers will be able to ride MiWay for free between 7:00 pm on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2019, and 4:00 am on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020.
