It’s supposed to be spring soon, but it certainly doesn’t feel like it.
The City of Mississauga recently announced that an extreme cold weather warning is still in effect. The city says temperatures in Mississauga are set to drop below -15 with the wind chill.
Brrr…it’s cold outside! Extreme cold weather continues for #Mississauga. Please take care if you’re going out and try to cover up as much exposed skin as possible. More information: https://t.co/fNzxik91NK. pic.twitter.com/8T8zntIAX7

Residents are advised to stay indoors as much as possible, plan ahead by checking the weather forecast before heading out, dress to suit the weather by wearing multiple layers of loose fitting clothes, (including a hat, scarf and mittens), cover up as much exposed skin as possible, drink warm fluids (but avoid caffeinated and alcoholic beverages as they cause your body to lose heat more rapidly) and reschedule or plan outdoor activities for another day.
During cold weather events, various community centres are available to those who are looking to get out of the cold.
Residents are also reminded to bring in pets without adequate shelter.
