Brampton is proving once again that it is a place of culture.

The city has been recognized as a “top participating community” in the urban centres category by the organizers of Culture Days.

Brampton also placed second overall nationally among all top participating communities across the country.

Culture Days is a national celebration of arts, culture and heritage that are held each year in September and October.

“Brampton’s recognition highlights the city and the community’s shared, ongoing commitment to fostering creativity, community engagement and cultural vibrancy,” according to organizers of Culture Days.

Brampton’s Culture Days lineup featured more than 200 free activities presented by community organizers and partners, including Brampton On Stage, Brampton Arts Organization (BAO), Brampton Public Library, Bovaird House, Downtown Brampton BIA and Peel Art Gallery Museum and Archives (PAMA).

Across Canada, Culture Days attracts millions of attendees from hundreds of municipalities to explore, engage and participate in more than 4,000 creative events.

After the events, Culture Days recognizes communities from across the country for their dedication and efforts by naming the top participating communities.

Culture Days 2024 was a record-breaking year across Canada, according to organizers, with over five million participants engaging in events and activities nationwide. Brampton has been acknowledged as playing a key role in this success by offering a diverse lineup of free, inclusive and accessible events. Activities ranged from hands-on workshops and performances to tours and interactive workshops that provided opportunities for participants of all ages to explore and celebrate Brampton’s art and culture landscape.

Next year, Culture Days will be taking place from Sept. 19 through to Oct. 12 and the city will begin looking for local creatives to partner with and host events. A call for artists will go out in 2025 at brampton.ca/culturedays.
