A Brampton man is facing a number of charges following a recent flight from Guelph police.

According to police, Guelph by-law enforcement staff informed police that a male was acting suspiciously on Feb. 5 at approximately 12:40 a.m. The suspect appeared to be tampering with licence plates in the Norfolk Street and Cork Street area.

The suspect was observed getting into a green Ford Explorer and when police located the vehicle, it fled when officers activated their emergency lights.

When the driver refused to stop and accelerated away, police stopped pursuing the vehicle. Shortly after, the driver lost control as the vehicle sped through an intersection to turn onto a side street. When the vehicle mounted the curb, the driver and a female passenger fled on foot.

The male suspect was captured by authorities, but the female is still at large.

Christopher Boodoo of Brampton is charged with flight from police, dangerous driving, drive while suspended, drive without proper rear lights and use plates unauthorized for vehicle.

He was released and is scheduled to appear in court on March 14, 2017.
