It has arrived, direct from cottage country.
Kawartha Dairy is now open in Burlington, throwing its doors open for the first time today (April 1) and giving customers a chance to experience 87 years of tradition.
Located at 3465 Fairview Street, Kawartha Dairy Company is a Canadian-owned and family-operated business that has been serving up dairy products in parts of Ontario for as long as anyone can remember.
Those who do remember say the business opened in Bobcaygeon in 1937 when Jack and Ila Crowe purchased a dairy and with milk provided by local farms began to deliver to customers in the Kawarthas.
By the 1950s they started serving up ice cream, first in Minden and then branching out.
All the while it has earned a reputation for its freshness and flavour.
Burlington customers can expect no less with milk, butter, cream, cakes and of course, 45 varieties of ice cream.
The owners say their secret is there is no secret with the products produced in traditional ways using fresh ingredients produced from local farms.
“We are looking forward to welcoming you to our new Burlington location at 3465 Fairview Street and making great memories with everyone,” operators posted in a message on social media.
Fans, though, say it is all about the ice cream.
“Can’t wait to get my hands on the ice cream.” wrote one Reddit user. “And I don’t have to travel out of town to get some. This is great.”
Kawartha Dairy will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
