An 80-year-old man is in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle as he walked across a busy road Friday night in Mississauga.

The pedestrian was reportedly crossing midblock when a white Honda CR-V struck him, police said.
Investigators believe the driver of the vehicle stopped briefly before speeding off in an unknown direction.
The victim, a Mississauga resident, was transported to a trauma centre with serious injuries.
Police describe the suspect as a white man, approximately 60 to 70 years old with balding grey hair, glasses and a clean-shaven appearance.
