Summer is here and many film productions choose to take advantage of the warm weather in Mississauga.

There were 67 productions in 2022 including film, television, commercial and student filming in Mississauga. Fellow Travelers, Cabinet of Curiosities and The Boys all had filming dates in Mississauga last year.

This year is shaping up to be a busy one for the film and television industry, according to the City of Mississauga.

To date, the city has approved permits for 30 productions including a variety of commercials, TV series, web series, feature films and mini-series, a City of Mississauga spokesperson tells insauga.com.

It is difficult to say what and how many productions will film in the summer as permits frequently come in very close to the start of production, the spokesperson says.

“For that reason, providing a two to three-month look ahead can be challenging.”

Here are eight productions that filmed in Mississauga in 2023 so far (some are continuing to film in the summer):

Seven Veils – feature film

Directed by Atom Egoyan and starring Amanda Seyfried, Seven Veils tells the story of a tortured theatre director who is tasked with remounting her former mentor’s most famous work, the opera Salome, according to IMDb. This one appears to have wrapped up — Hollywood North Buzz said filming was from Feb. 13 to March 12, 2023.

Meet Me at Christmas – feature film

This appears to be a sequel to the 2020 film. According to IMDb, Meet Me at Next Christmas is in production and is a Christmas romance set in New York City.
