After waking up, opening presents and filling up on a hearty breakfast, if you find yourself without Christmas plans and the idea of spending the entire day indoors doesn’t sound as fun, it might be time to gather your family and friends for an outing.

Here are six activities to explore in Mississauga today:

Go for a skate

Whether you are gliding on ice for the first time or a master at figure eights, Celebration Square’s ice rink located at City Centre Drive is open from noon until 6 p.m. today.

Catch the latest flick

Snag a bag of popcorn and treats for a matinee or movie day at your local theatre!

Given the possibility of adjusted Christmas hours, it’s a good idea to call ahead to your nearest location to confirm their hours of operation.

Grab a bite to eat

If you’d rather skip cooking or can’t fathom the idea of Christmas leftovers, few restaurants are open today to satisfy your cravings.

Some restaurants including D Spot Cafe, Mandarin and Mado at Square One are open. A good idea would be to call and make a reservation, as they may experience a high volume of patrons.

Shop for essentials

If you’re considering some pre-Boxing Day window shopping or in need of stocking up on essentials or groceries many Shoppers Drug Mart locations and Rabba Fine Foods are open.

While the LCBO is closed, most Wine Rack stores including the one located at 416 Burnhamthorpe Rd. W., will be open, if you fancy picking up a few bottles of wine.

Walk around Port Credit

The natural beauty of Port Credit will keep you exploring. Grab your significant other, hold their hand, and stroll through the charming streets and paths of this picturesque area.

Begin by parking at the Port Credit Library, then head south along the path beneath the Lakeshore Bridge, following the Credit River.

Take a leisurely walk around Snug Harbour and continue towards JJ Plaus Park. Follow the path to its end for stunning views of Lake Ontario and the Toronto skyline on a clear day.

Port Credit is undeniably one of the most scenic places to walk in Mississauga.
