6 new restaurants at Square One in Mississauga
Published October 29, 2024 at 3:43 pm
Already one of Mississauga’s hottest spots to grab a bite to eat, Square One is getting even better with multiple new restaurant openings.
The Food District is Square One’s urban food hall and home to over 20 popular restaurants, including Mexican restaurant La Carnita, dessert spot Big Fat Cookies, and Korean fried chicken joint MyMy Chicken, among many others.
This popular spot combines mainstay restaurants with an array of rotating pop-up shops in The District Kitchen (located in the heart of The Food District), making sure that even regular visitors always have something new and appetizing to try.
New restaurants are opening all the time at Square One’s The Food District. Check out these popular spots which have recently opened or are on the roster for later this fall:
Mogouyan Noodles
Mogouyan Noodles, priding itself as one of the most well-known beef noodle brands in China, is among the newest restaurants coming soon to The Food District. The restaurant specializes in hand-pulled noodles and offers a variety of noodle shapes and sizes, including classic, thin-round, thin-flat, and flat options.
Their signature beef noodle soup is made with savoury beef and chicken broth, braised beef slices, and chilli oil, a delicious combination of hot and flavourful. Other items on the menu include spring rolls, edamame, chicken wings, and dumplings.
Egg Club
Popular restaurant Egg Club began as a way to offer diners a less costly option for breakfast (but these tasty sandwiches can be enjoyed any time of the day). Their signature egg sandwiches are made with flavour and affordability in mind, with fresh eggs and ingredients served in light and fluffy Japanese milk bread.
The menu has a ton of options to choose from, including their classic egg sandwich, ham and cheese, peanut butter and jelly, BLT, meat lovers and more. Beyond sandwiches, they also have a meat lovers bowl and a chipotle lobster bowl.
Marry Me Mochi
Foodies who have a soft spot for Japanese-style sweets will find a lot to love at Marry Me Mochi, an upscale café which combines traditional Japanese mochi – a chewy rice cake made from pounded glutinous rice – with the familiar shape of an American donut.
Some of their popular donuts include the “Creme Brulove” (creme brulée flavour) and “Butter Than Your Ex” (cookie butter), with flavours changing weekly to keep things fresh. The shop also serves specialty drinks, including Vietnamese coffee and creatively flavoured lattes.
The Purple Bakeshop
Originally one of the pop-ups in The District Kitchen, The Purple Bakeshop has opened up a full location for their authentic Filipino desserts, snacks and pastries. Just as the name implies, many of the baked goods here are a vibrant purple, which comes from a popular Filipino ingredient in baked goods called ube (aka purple yam), making them a treat for both the mouth and the eyes.
The bakery’s goods come in a variety of flavours including chocolate, mango and ube, with their most popular menu items being cakes, pies, cupcakes, cheesecakes, cookies and dessert boxes.
Refuel Juicery
Toronto-based cold press juice bar Refuel Juicery is bringing their selection of popular juices and smoothies to Square One later this Fall. With multiple locations across the GTA, this juice bar aims to provide great-tasting drinks made with fresh and healthy ingredients.
Their menu includes refreshing juices made with your choice from a wide selection of fruits and veggies: watermelon, orange, apple, carrot, ginger, beet and more. They also have a wide range of fruit smoothies and veggie smoothie options, such as their “Special” smoothie which blends together mango, strawberry, banana, and almond milk.
Blossom Moments Florist & Café
Coffee with a side of flowers – yes please! Part café and part florist, Blossom Moments is all about celebrating the precious moments in life with gorgeous bouquets, whether you need a gift for someone or simply want to treat yourself. Their new location will now include a café, so you can have a seat and indulge while taking in the beauty of lush flowers such as peonies, ranunculuses, anemones, and garden roses.
Beyond these new openings, foodies can continue to find a variety of popular mainstays at The Food District. Enjoy tacos, churros, and more authentic Mexican cuisine at La Carnita, savour some crispy Korean fried chicken at MyMy Chicken, find the perfect cookie to suit your craving at Big Fat Cookies, and much more.
As for pop-ups, The District Kitchen is fully booked until the end of the year with these exciting new shops. Be sure to stop by and check them out before they’re gone:
- Soft Dough Co. from October 28 – November 3
- Kainan Na from November 4-17
- Bao Mama from November 18 – December 31
