A month-long police probe led investigators to the recovery last Friday of five stolen vehicles at an Ontario home and the arrest of a man in connection with the thefts.

In addition to the stolen vehicles, Ontario Provincial Police officers also seized two utility trailers, numerous vehicle parts and vehicle accessories at the Simcoe home, located in Norfolk County on the shores of Lake Erie about 80 kilometres southwest of Hamilton.

The total value of recovered goods is around $200,000, OPP said in a news release.

A man was taken into custody without incident, police said, in the wake of the Friday morning raid. Officers executed a search warrant at the Windham Road 13 home shortly after 7 a.m.

Police said the investigation into stolen property began in September and culminated with the arrest and recovery of goods.

Jerry Lee Gilbert, 48, of Norfolk County, is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 (five counts) and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (two counts).

He’s scheduled to appear in Simcoe court on Dec. 3.
