Winter is a great time to get outside and try one of Mississauga’s many outdoor skating venues.
Whether you’re in the mood for crowds in a larger rink or want a quiet afternoon with friends or family at a neighbourhood park, there are many options in the city.
Many rinks open in December or early January but opening is weather dependent. All city-operated rinks are refrigerated and have staff on site to monitor and maintain rink conditions.
In addition to artificial rinks, Mississauga has a natural ice rink program. These rinks are maintained throughout the season by resident volunteers.
Here are five places to skate in Mississauga:
Celebration Square ice rink
Located at 300 City Centre Dr., Celebration Square is the city’s largest outdoor ice rink. The festive decor and light installations can make for great photo ops during the holiday season.
The rink is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., weather permitting.
While there is no charge to skate, ice skate rentals and sharpening services are available at a cost.
Port Credit Memorial Park skating trail
Newly opened last winter, this outdoor loop along a 200-metre trail in Port Credit offers views of the frozen Credit River.
Located at 40 Stavebank Rd., the loop is open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Staff is on site to patrol the trail Monday to Friday from 4 to 10 p.m. and on weekends from open till close.
Woodhurst Heights Park Outdoor Skating Rink
This artificial outdoor rink, located at 3475 Ash Row Cres. is in a quieter neighbourhood making it the perfect spot for a casual skate.
There are drop-in skating and hockey programs run throughout the day. For details, check the Woodhurst Heights skating schedule.
This rink was expected to open on Dec. 21.
Operating hours are daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., weather permitting.
Streetsville Memorial Park
Located at 335 Church St., in the heart of Streetsville, this is one of 27 natural skating rinks in public parks.
Natural ice rinks are located in parks across Mississauga. They open in late December or January, depending on weather conditions.
Rink conditions are weather-dependent. Visit a rink in person to check the status of the ice.
Promenade Meadows
Another natural rink, this one is located in a 150-acre park community park at 7099 Danton Promenade in Meadowvale West. Surrounded by homes, this park offers a quiet neighbourhood skate.
