Historic homes and beautiful old churches are reimagined on a new list of unconventional properties for sale in Ontario.
The list of five unique homes comes from real estate brokerage Zoocasa. They go well beyond the typical subdivision-style abode and ” redefine what a home can be,” Zoocasa notes.
These homes, located across Ontario, take churches and other old buildings and convert them into something extraordinary.
Here are five of the most unusual homes for sale in Ontario:
651 Cope Rd., Welland
This former church is converted into a two-bedroom home that comes with nearly 4,000 square feet of living space and 15-foot vaulted ceilings on the main level.
It also has gorgeous views of open fields with no rear neighbours. All the updates on this home were done just over eight years ago.
It is listed for $1,199,900.
202 – 384 Sunnyside Ave., Toronto
This three-bedroom unit is in the Gothic Revival converted Abbey Lofts. This limestone-clad church was built in 1910 and repurposed in 2007 into 24 lofts.
Located in the High Park neighbourhood in Toronto, it’s only minutes from the park and the popular shopping areas on Bloor Street West and Roncesvalles.
This loft is listed at $1,849,990.
13233 Fifth Line, Halton Hills
This historic estate dating back to 1896 is described as “unique” and “eclectic.” Set on 150 acres, this place comes with a two-storey home, two log cabins, an in-ground pool and spa.
There is also a pond, apple orchard, barn with horse stalls and a large shed with a workshop. The place boasts one of Ontario’s few existing stone silos converted into an artist’s studio.
This property is listed for $5,500,000.
10-405 Merritt St., St. Catharines
This one-bedroom condo apartment features vaulted ceilings, a huge loft area and 970 square feet of living space.
Converted from a church about five years ago, it has expansive windows, an open-concept design with a galley kitchen with white cabinets and stainless steel appliances. The loft area has tons of natural light and a two-piece bathroom.
This place is listed at $449,900.
126 Sears St., Toronto
Formerly a movie props warehouse, this four-bedroom home in Toronto’s Leslieville neighbourhood offers a fusion of loft-style, maintenance-free living, with the independence of a freehold home.
It blends high-end contemporary design with its industrial heritage. There is also an expansive rooftop terrace with a view of the Toronto skyline.
This place is listed for $3,648,000.
