As you’ve probably noticed if you’ve been outside at all this week, the weather is getting colder, and winter is approaching. That means, in addition to temperatures dropping, and the days getting shorter, the holidays are also fast approaching.

Many places around the GTA, including the Eaton Centre, have already held their ceremonial Christmas tree lighting.
There are also holiday-themed activities popping up across the GTA.

These are the 5 best Christmas Markets near Mississauga.

5: Vegetarian Holiday Market

A great event for people looking for gifts for the vegetarians and vegans in their life. This market has plenty of gift ideas that are great for people who are passionate about sustainable and cruelty-free living.

Located at Artscape Wychwood Barns, the market is a one-day event taking place on November 24. Tickets are $5 for people over the age of 10—anyone under gets in free—and all the proceeds go towards the Toronto Vegetarian Association’s outreach programs.

A holiday institution, the Toronto Christmas Market has tons of things to enjoy—there’s almost too much to take in during a single visit.

Fortunately, the market is open throughout December in Toronto’s historic Distillery District. It’s open from noon to 9 p.m. on weeknights, and until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

There are plenty of vendors selling great gift ideas; delicious, holiday-themed foods and drinks; and plenty of breathtaking sights to see.

1: WinterFest

This year marks the inaugural WinterFest at Canada’s Wonderland. Similar to the way the park transforms during Halloween, Canada’s Wonderland will be transforming into a winter wonderland.

There will be plenty of holiday-themed foods to indulge in, as well as holiday-themed activities only available during WinterFest, all the classic park rides, and even live-action performances to enjoy.

WinterFest will be running from November 22 to December 31.
