45 Ontario-born athletes will represent Canada at Paralympic Games in Paris

45 Ontario-born athletes will be representing Canada in the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris

With the conclusion of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games are set to kick off at the end of this month. 

With the upcoming celebration of the athletic achievement, numerous Canadian Paralympians will be making their way to Paris to represent Canada. However, according to an official report from the Canadian Paralympic Committee, 45 of the 126 Paralympians will be representing more than just the great white north — but also — their home province of Ontario.  

As for the full roster of events the 126 athletes will be competing in, the full list is as follows:

  • Wheelchair Basketball (24 athletes)
  • Para-swimming (22 athletes)
  • Para-athletics (20 athletes)
  • Sitting Volleyball (12 athletes)
  • Wheelchair Rugby (12 athletes)
  • Para-cycling (7 athletes) 
  • Goalball (6 athletes)
  • Boccia (5 athletes, including one competition partner)
  • Para-canoe (3 athletes)
  • Para-equestrian (3 athletes)
  • Para-triathlon (3 athletes)
  • Wheelchair Fencing (3 athletes)
  • Para-archery (1 athlete)
  • Para-badminton (1 athlete)
  • Para-judo (1 athlete) 
  • Para-rowing (1 athlete)
  • Para-table tennis (1 athlete)
  • Wheelchair Tennis (1 athlete) 

“The Paralympic Games is the pinnacle of sport, and each athlete should be immensely proud to be a Paralympian and reach this stage. There are going to be so many wonderful and compelling performances through the 11 days of competition in Paris as we see how greatness moves our Canadian athletes,” said Karolina Wisniewska, co-chef de mission, Paris 2024 Canadian Paralympic Team in an official statement. 

The 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris are scheduled for August 28 to September 3.
