But it’s no secret that it will also cost you a pretty penny.

And in the new year, tolls and fees will be changing for those who use Highway 407, making it more expensive to use.

INsauga.com has taken a look at the current cost to use the highway during rush hour.

Here is a look at how much it’s currently estimated to cost for light vehicles to take Highway 407 on weekdays between 3:30 and 6 p.m.

Also considered is how much time you could save compared to taking Highway 401, based on Google Maps with a 4:30 p.m. departure time on a Monday:

Highway 427 to Highway 404 (Eastbound)

With a transponder: $18.47

Without a transponder: $22.67

Time saved: Using Highway 407, it’s estimated to take 12 to 16 minutes. Using Highway 401, it typically takes anywhere from 30 minutes to one hour.

Highway 404 to Highway 427 (Westbound)

With a transponder: $16.95

Without a transponder: $21.15

Time saved: Using Highway 407, it’s estimated to take 12 to 16 minutes. Using Highway 401, it typically takes anywhere from 26 to 50 minutes.

Highway 427 to York-Durham Line (Eastbound)

With a transponder: $29.72

Without a transponder: $33.92

Time saved: This route essentially covers the whole length of the City of Toronto. Using Highway 407, it takes 20 to 24 minutes. For Highway 401, from Highway 427 to Port Union Road (which is roughly the same distance because the 401 doesn’t touch the York-Durham Line), it typically takes anywhere from 40 minutes to one hour and 15 minutes.

Time saved: With Highway 407, the drive takes 20 to 24 minutes. From Port Union Road to Highway 427 on Highway 401, it’s estimated to take 35 minutes to one hour.

Time saved: Driving the entire length of Highway 407 eastbound takes an hour and 10 minutes to an hour and 25 minutes. Travelling from the 403 and 407 in Burlington to the 401 and Highway 35/115 using the QEW, 427 and 401 typically takes an hour and 40 minutes to two hours and 30 minutes.
