374 cars stolen in the past 30 days in Mississauga and Brampton

Residents are reminded to secure their vehicles while away on vacation this summer as 374 cars are stolen in the last 30 days in Mississauga and Brampton.
Peel Police crime mapping data shows a total of 374 vehicles stolen in the time between June 22 and July 21.
167 of those thefts happened in Brampton while 207 happened in Mississauga.
That’s an average of approximately 12 cars stolen every day in the Peel Region.
Peel police record 83 vehicles stolen just this past week.
Peel Regional Police remind residents of the following to help keep their vehicle secure:
- If possible, park vehicles in a locked garage
- Install GPS trackers in vehicles if possible
- Install steering wheel lock systems
- Store vehicle keys/fobs away from the exterior walls of your home
- Consider storing keys/fobs in Faraday boxes
- Ensure you always lock car doors and roll up your windows
- Ensure there is adequate lighting in the area of driveways and entranceways
“Homeowners are encouraged to become familiar with their neighbours and be cognizant of suspicious activity, and report that activity to police,” Peel police said.
