The search is on for a “vulnerable” missing three-year-old child in Mississauga.
The child, named Zaid, went missing in the area of Erindale Park and was last seen around 6:20 p.m. Thursday (July 25). He is “possibly” non-verbal.
Zaid is described as having a thin build with a short dark afro. He was wearing a yellow top with red writing and black pants.
He had no shoes or socks on.
“If seen, please call 9-1-1 immediately,” said Peel Regional Police.
Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services and Peel Paramedics joined the search last night.
“Our thoughts are with the child’s loved ones during this difficult time,” Mississauga Fire said in a post on X.
As of 7 a.m. Friday, Peel Regional Police said they are still actively searching for Zaid. They plan to provide an update this morning.
Police helicopter and a drone have been spotted over the park, which is blocked off.
Residents have reportedly asked to help in the search but Peel Regional Police told reporters they don’t need additional help and are conducting a methodical search.
They also said there is no indication the child was abducted, which could prompt an Amber Alert.
