Imagine being a regular at a spot you love, where the staff knows your order and the food feels like home. Then, you show up one day, and it’s closed for good.

For longtime patrons—whether of an established favourite around for decades or a newly opened concept—closures like these can be hard to digest. Without a second location to turn to, finding another place quite like it can feel nearly impossible.

Here are three restaurants that shut down their businesses in October:

La Parmigiana Italian Eatery

La Parmigiana Mississauga restaurant closure

La Parmigiana, a beloved Italian restaurant located at 5484 Tomken Rd., has permanently closed, ending decades of service in Mississauga.

Known for its comforting Italian classics, the restaurant offered a range of dishes, including meatball subs, veal sandwiches, pizza, and spaghetti and meatballs.

Sources indicate the closure marks the end of an era for the popular restaurant, with no plans announced for relocation or reopening.

The restaurant’s website and social media platforms have not released further details regarding the closure.

Arirang

Arirang, a Korean street food chain celebrated for its unique take on corndogs, permanently closed its location at 252 Main St. E., just 14 months after opening.

The shop, which shared its space with bubble tea chain Gong Cha, offered a range of specialty corndogs with fillings like cheese, sausage, poutine and even Oreo cookies.

A sign on the counter cited “internal conflict” as the reason for the closure, though no further details have been provided.

Chorizo Fresh Mex

Ontario, Mississauga, Oakville, Chorizo Fresh Mex, closed, tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos, churros

After almost 20 years serving Mexican-inspired dishes, Chorizo Fresh Mex has closed its location at Clarkson Crossing plaza in Mississauga.

The restaurant, located at 950 Southdown Rd., was a favourite stop for locals craving tacos, burritos, and chorizo quesadillas.

Alongside classic burritos and tacos, Chorizo Fresh Mex offered bowls, fajitas, nachos and desserts like churros, all prepared with an emphasis on fresh, marinated ingredients.

News of the closure surprised many patrons, some of whom expressed their disappointment online, noting that the restaurant’s fresh toppings, grilled meats and homemade guacamole made it a standout.

Although the Mississauga location has closed, Chorizo Fresh Mex continues to operate in Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Whitby.
